Curriculum Project
Curriculum Project
Beyond the Whistle is a curriculum design project that examines the often-overlooked role of designers in shaping the world of sports. Moving past athletes, coaches, and on-field performance, the curriculum highlights how graphic designers, product designers, UX designers, architects, and storytellers influence everything from team identity and fan experience to equipment innovation and social messaging within sports culture.
Structured as a modular learning experience, the curriculum combines case studies, visual analysis, hands-on projects, and critical discussion. Students explore topics such as branding and visual identity, uniform and sneaker design, stadium and interface design, and the politics of representation in sports media. Beyond the Whistle positions design as a powerful force operating behind the scenes—one that shapes how sports are seen, felt, and remembered—empowering students to recognize and engage with design as an active agent in athletic culture.
